At age 4 he got his very first go-kart and started racing at Poughkeepsie Speedway. While most kids take in racing as a hobby at a young age, Joey made it a lifestyle.
In 2003, when he was 8, he made the move up to Jr.Sportsman Champ. In his first year he racked up 3 feature wins finishing 4th in the point standings. The next season, at age 9 in 2004, Joey switched over to Jr. 1 light and heavy. He ran Poughkeepsie Speedway, the Northeast Pavement Series, and the WKA Pavement Nationals. In 2006 Joey moved to the Jr.2 Light and heavy classes. Again he ran the Northeast Pavement Series and WKA Pavement Nationals. After three years, 6 Championships, 14 poles, and 38 wins, Joey and his family decided to make the next move up. This time to 600 Racing's Legends Cars. 2007 was just a practice year as Joey wasn't old enough to compete yet. In 2008 at age 13, Joey made his debut in a legends car at at Waterford Speedbowl. For the next 2 seasons Joey would be behind the wheel of one. At the end of the 2 seasons, he won Rookie of the Year, racked up 10 young lion wins-8 of them coming in 2009, 8 top fives and 10 top tens in the pro races in just 23 starts.
After turning 15, Joey was offered to drive Bob Parker/RF Parker Motorsports SK Light Modified at Stafford Speedway for 2010. In his rookie season of 24 starts, Joey came home with 2 wins,14 top fives, 17 top tens and 7 DNF's.He finished the season 3rd in Stafford Speedway track points and 6th in Whelen All American Series Division 3 National Points.He became the first 15 year old to win at Stafford Speedway and is now the youngest winner at Thompson Speedway after winning the 2010 World Series of Auto Racing.
For 2011, Joey plans to return to RF Parker Motorsports to drive the number 84 SK Light once again. He will be teamed up with Gunsmoke Stables Racing and Steve Greer, and Earl Pelletier Racing. He will compete at a total of 4 tracks throughout the season-Full Time at Stafford Speedway, 2 races-Thompson Speedway, and part time at Monadnock Speedway and Waterford Speedbowl.
